The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland serves a meal daily at all sites. In 2008, we served 33,364 meals and snacks, all made possible through grant money received from the federal government (CACFP), and with help from Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank. Second Harvest has helped us stretch our buying dollar, while their Food Recovery Program has allowed us to serve nutritious, hot meals from local restaurants and delis at a very low cost.
In 2009, we partnered with Maurices, who is providing the additional support needed to ensure we continue to meet this most basic need to feed an increasing number of members at all six of our locations.
Over and over again we hear from our members that if it weren’t for the Club, they would not otherwise eat a similar meal. Members depend on the meals we serve, which give them the nutrition they need to concentrate on what matters most.
